TCU Postgame Quotes

TCU Head Coach Gary Patterson:
On the victory
"We got better as a football team. We're 5-0 and going to Tampa. We're looking forward to it. Here we go. There's a long season left ahead of us."

On Tye Gunn
"He needs to be able to take a hit, move around and run the offense. He looked a little rusty."

On Lonta Hobbs' progress
"Everything's about survival and he'll step up. We need to get healthy at tailback. We'll see what (trainer) Chris (Hall) says. Hopefully, he'll be better in six days."

On the defense
"The defense played well. I called a difficult game, but I didn't expect a shut out. We've been working on the blitz package."

On the special teams
"We played better on special teams. We won that battle. John Braziel punted better tonight."

TCU Quarterback Brandon Hassell:
On the victory
"We played okay. We made little mistakes. We got off to a slow start, but the offense picked up in the second half. We put more points on the board. The defense is doing well, but we haven't been able to do well in the red zone."

On playing his third straight game
"The first game I was a little nervous. But knowing Tye was going to be available (tonight) helped out a lot. We're getting to the meat of the conference schedule and we'll do what we need to do to win."

TCU Quarterback Tye Gunn:
On getting into the game
"It felt good. I had jitters in the beginning."

On Brandon Hassell
"He's a different kind of quarterback. He's not afraid to take a hit and will stay in the pocket longer."

TCU Defensive End Bo Schobel:
On the defense
"We take pride in ourselves to get a shutout. We have to give credit to the secondary."

On South Florida, TCU's next opponent
"They are a very good football team and we need to bring our 'A' game. We have to take our level and step it up a notch."

Army Postgame Quotes

Army Head Coach Todd Berry:
On his overall impressions of TCU
"TCU is a great team. They are very deserving of their ranking, if not a higher one. Their defense is the best we have played all year."

On the offense
"We're very dysfunctional on offense, but they are a great defensive football team. We had our chances but couldn't score. We have to capitalize on those opportunities. We have to be more consistent. Most of our problems are caused by our young players just not making plays. We are going to have to simplify our game plan. We just don't have the talent to continuously make big plays. Our young players have a lot of potential, but we have to continued working with them."

On the play of Jacob Murphy
"I am very pleased. He's back up to about 95 percent speed-wise. I'm very excited about him. He has a lot of big play potential. The attraction that Aaron Alexander received tonight helped to open him up a bit more than usual."

Army Quarterback Zac Dahman:
On the status on Head Coach Todd Berry
"I don't want coach to go. He does a lot of good things for our team. We just haven't pulled together as an offense. We have to execute and make big plays

On the play of the Army offense
"It's really frustrating. We were able to drive the ball on one of the nation's top-ranked defenses. We stayed toe-to-toe with them for most of the game, but we just couldn't finish our drives and score."

Army Wide Receiver Jacob Murphy:
On the play of the Army offense
"We did not have a great game. No one could produce consistently. Our defense played tough tonight, but unfortunately, we weren't able to add to that."
