POSTGAME QUOTES
New Mexico vs. TCU
Oct. 22, 2011
Attendance: 33,833
Final: TCU 69, New Mexico 0

TCU HEAD COACH Gary Patterson
On today’s win over New Mexico:
“We looked like we were a lot fresher coming off the bye week. New Mexico left a couple of their wide receivers at home so it was interesting how they did things. Generally, we’re pretty happy. Our second-team has got to keep improving. It’s not okay to just play; it’s okay to play well. Outside of that, we’ll get ready for BYU.”

On improvement over the last two weeks of the season
“I can’t tell if we started faster or they started slower. We’re going to take it. This is two weeks in a row that we’ve gotten takeaways and if you do that, you’re going to win a lot of ballgames.”

On what he saw off the bye week:
“We had fresh legs. Fresh legs tackle better. Fresh legs think better. Fresh bodies run better.”

On the play of Devin Johnson in the secondary:
“He’s been physical. He’s smart and he’s been in the right place. He can handle coaching and he can handle adjustments. When you’re part of our secondary and you can handle adjustments, then we can make them. It’s been a positive for us getting him the ball game. He’s made plays in every game. He seems like he’s getting more comfortable.”

TCU SENIOR FULLBACK Luke Shivers
On his long reception in the first half:
“We’ve been working on that all week; I got past the safety and caught the ball. I didn’t even see the safety. I took a shot and I think I was surprised that I was still up after that.”

On his team’s performance coming off a bye week:
“We had a great off-week. Offensively, we competed well. Once we got on them quick, we just got on a roll and kept going.”

TCU JUNIOR SAFETY Devin Johnson
How the defense performed:
"We just played very hard. A lot of people said we’ve fallen off from TCU’s old defense. We just had to turn the switch on. New Mexico played hard too; they were good as a team.”

TCU JUNIOR QUARTERBACK Casey Pachall
On getting off to a good start:
“We expected to come out and start fast. Coach has harped on it all week. It helped out a lot because we were able to get the momentum rolling.”

NEW MEXICO INTERIM HEAD COACH GEORGE BARLOW
On his team’s performance:
“When you start the way that we started off the game you really don’t have a chance. When you start off with two or three turnovers, this creates some confidence issues within the team. When you can’t play very well you have to find a way to play better.

“The speed was hard to handle at times but you’ve got to play better. I’m not necessarily talking about putting this on the kids, but us as coaches we have to do better. Anytime you play like we did, you don’t give yourself a chance. We hurt ourselves as much as they hurt us.

“Our problem today was that we just did not play very well from start to finish. I thought we needed to play with a lot more effort.”
