Team Notes

*TCU fell to 9-2 overall this season and 6-1 in Mountain West Conference play with the loss.

*TCU suffered its first loss under Head Coach Gary Patterson in 51 chances when allowing 17 points or fewer. The loss broke a streak of 65 consecutive victories overall for TCU when the opponent was held to no more than 17 points.

*Ross Evans’ 37-yard field goal gave TCU a score on its opening drive of the game for the ninth time in 11 contests this season (seven touchdowns, two field goals). In the two games they did not produce points on their first possession, the Frogs scored on their second series.

*TCU opened a game with a lead of at least 10-0 for the ninth time in 11 contests this season.

*The Frogs became the first team in the nation to play 11 games this season. TCU entered the contest as one of only five teams to not yet have an open date in 2008.

*Entering the game, TCU opponents were 1-of-2 on field goals for the season. Utah was 2-of-2 Thursday.

*TCU won the coin toss for the ninth time in 11 games this season. On each occasion, the Horned Frogs have deferred. Entering the game, TCU is 8-0 when winning the toss and 1-1 when losing the flip.


Individual Notes
*Aaron Brown had a season-high 106 rushing yards. The contest marked his sixth career 100-yard game, with the last being a 124-yard effort on Sept. 29, 2007 versus Colorado State.

*Bart Johnson’s 52-yard first-quarter reception represented a career-long for the sophomore wide receiver, named earlier today to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team. Johnson’s previous long catch was 18 yards on two occasions.

*Ross Evans, the lone freshman on the Lou Groza Award Watch List, had a 37-yard field goal and is now 14-of-18 on the season.

*Aaron Brown’s 41-yard first-quarter run was his longest carry of the season. It was also his longest run since a 45-yard effort at Colorado State on Nov. 25, 2006.

*Ryan Christian’s 3-yard first-quarter scoring run was his fourth rushing touchdown of the season.

*Christian also totaled a career-high 69 yards receiving on four catches.

*Jason Phillips had 10 tackles to give him 301 in his career. Robert Henson and Stephen Hodge also totaled 10 stops each.
