DALLAS -- TCU defensive tackle Ross Blacklock has been named a Freshman All-American by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA).

Blacklock started all 14 games for the Horned Frogs (11-3) this season. He was a key part of the Big 12's top defense which ranks 19th nationally (331.4 yards per game) while playing six of its 14 contests against top-20 offenses.

A 6-foot-4, 326-pound native of Missouri City, Texas, Blacklock totaled 27 tackles, including 6 1/2 for loss, with two sacks. He was instrumental in TCU allowing just 103.9 yards per game rushing, the fifth-best mark in the nation. TCU was also second in the country in run defense improvement (83.9 yards) from the previous season.

Blacklock is the third Horned Frog to receive Freshman All-America honors. Fellow defensive tackle Corey Bethley and wide receiver Jalen Reagor were named to 247Sports' True Freshman All-America Team.

Blacklock will be one of six returning defensive starters for TCU in 2018.
