Football Finishes Seventh in Season-Ending Polls

Jan. 12, 2016

FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU football team has been ranked seventh in season-ending polls by the Associated Press and Amway USA Today Coaches.

The Horned Frogs (11-2) have finished in the top 10 in back-to-back seasons and five times in the last eight years. In 15 seasons under head coach Gary Patterson, TCU has posted six top-10 finishes and 10 in the top 25.

TCU closed the 2015 campaign by rallying from a 31-0 halftime deficit for a 47-41 triple-overtime victory over Oregon in the Valero Alamo Bowl. The 31 points tied for the largest comeback for any bowl game in history while equaling the second-largest comeback all-time in an FBS game.

TCU reached the 11-win mark for the eighth time in the last 11 seasons.

TCU will return 16 starters, including 11 on defense, next season. The 11 defensive starters include seven who finished the 2015 campaign as well as four who suffered season-ending injuries.

The Horned Frogs open the 2016 campaign with a Sept. 3 home game versus South Dakota State. TCU will then host Arkansas Sept. 10.
