Turpin on Hornung Award Watch List

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- TCU's KaVontae Turpin has been named to the watch list for the Paul Hornung Award presented by Texas Roadhouse, given to the nation's most versatile player.

Turpin was selected by conference media last week as the return specialist on the Preseason All-Big 12 Team. He has received All-Big 12 recognition each of the last two seasons.

Turpin was a two-time Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week in 2016. He averaged 28.4 yards per kickoff return and 12.5 on punt returns. He also averaged 14.9 yards per touch.

A junior from Monroe, La., Turpin was leading the nation in all-purpose yards per game last season before being sidelined by injury. He had a career-high 295 all-purpose yards against Arkansas in being named to the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll. He was also selected to the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll twice as a freshman in 2015.

Turpin had 30 receptions for 295 yards and a touchdown last season while adding 84 yards rushing on nine carries. He had 45 catches, 649 yards, eight touchdowns and 116 yards rushing in 2015.
