IRVING, Texas -- The TCU football team is picked third in the official preseason Big 12 poll by the conference media.

The Horned Frogs received nine first-place votes.

TCU returns nine starters from a defense that topped the Big 12 in six categories and ranked 16th nationally, despite having faced five of the nation's top-13 offenses. The Horned Frogs have six returning offensive starters.

TCU opens camp July 31 with the first practice set for Aug. 1. The season opener is Aug. 31 versus LSU in the Cowboys Classic at Cowboys Stadium.
