HORNED FROGS DIG DEEP FOR VICTORY
Win clinches spot in prestigious Orange Bowl.

FORT WORTH, Texas - Kyle Gillespie was believed to be bigger than Sammy Baugh and faster than Davey O'Brien. Simply put, he was the perfect man to lead TCU in 1941.

Hobbled by injuries in the middle of what would have been an All-America campaign, Gillespie reached full recovery in time to provide all the offense needed on the ground and in the air for the Horned Frogs to take down SMU in the regular-season finale, 15-13. The victory clinched an Orange Bowl appearance.

"When Gillespie was healthy, he was the best we ever had," said head coach Dutch Meyer, who had seen all of TCU's top quarterbacks in the school's history.
