FORT WORTH, Texas -- GoFrogs.com continues its preview of the 2012 TCU football team with a look at the cornerbacks.

Returning starter Jason Verrett (5-10, 180, Jr.) had a strong close to last year in earning all-conference recognition. His 58 tackles, which placed fifth on the team, were the most by a Horned Frog cornerback since 2001. He tied for fourth on TCU last season with four pass breakups while adding a key interception at San Diego State to help preserve a TCU victory.

Kevin White (5-10, 174, So.), who started three games a year ago, is in a first-team position opposite Verrett. White had two tackles for loss among a career-high eight stops at Baylor.

Brian Alexis (5-9, 160, Sr.) and junior college transfer Keivon Gamble (5-10, 180, Jr.) are in second-team positions. Gamble, a Dallas native, signed in December out of Trinity Valley Community College and took part in spring practice.

Travoskey Garrett (6-1, 195, RFr.) was a strong candidate to play as a true freshman in 2011 before suffering a season-ending injury. He figures prominently in the mix for playing time in the future, along with David Jenkins (6-1, 193, So.). An LSU transfer who has to sit out this season per NCAA transfer rules, Jenkins will have three seasons of eligibility beginning in 2013.
