Aug. 19, 2010
FORT WORTH, Texas -- Rivals.com has named TCU offensive tackle Marcus Cannon and safety Tejay Johnson as the Best Offensive and Defensive Players, respectively, in the Mountain West Conference.
Cannon, a preseason All-American, has been ranked by ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. as the third-best offensive tackle available in the 2011 NFL Draft. Johnson, also a preseason All-American, will be in his third year as a starter. He placed fourth on last season's nation-leading defense with 59 tackles.
McCoy and Teague both had two interceptions last season. McCoy started in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, while Teague played most of the game as TCU held Boise State, the nation's top scoring team, to only one offensive touchdown.
The Horned Frogs were recognized as having the Best Coaching Staff in the MWC, while Dick Bumpas was tabbed the Best Defensive Coordinator.
All of TCU's position units were ranked either first or second in the MWC. The Horned Frogs' offensive line, defensive line, linebackers, secondary and specialists were rated tops in the league, while the offensive backfield and wide receivers were listed second.
