Sept. 7, 2010
FORT WORTH - TCU's athletic department has named sophomore running back Ed Wesley and cross country sophomore Agnes Kemboi as its Athletes of the Week for the week of Sept. 7.
Wesley, the male recipient, rushed for 134 yards on a career-high 17 carries in sixth-ranked TCU's 30-21 over No. 24 Oregon State. He added an 8-yard touchdown run with 49 seconds remaining in the first half to give TCU a 21-14 halftime advantage.
The effort sparked a TCU ground attack, which rolled up 278 yards and an astounding 39:23 to 20:37 edge in time of possession.
It was Wesley's second-career 100-yard game and just three yards shy of his career high that he posted last year against Utah.
Kemboi opened her 2010 cross county campaign in fine fashion at the Bear Twilight Invitational in Waco. The Eldoret, Kenya, native crossed the line in third place with a time of 14:08.1 on the 4,000-meter course.
She narrowly missed out on a second-place performance individually, but helped the Horned Frog women to a second-place showing in the team standings with 43 points. Her team finished ahead of South Central region top-ranked SMU and No. 15 North Texas.
