ABOUT THE GAME
*After opening Big 12 play with a 41-20 win over Iowa State, No. 21 TCU closes its nonconference schedule with a Friday 7 p.m. date at SMU.
*Over the last three seasons, TCU has the Big 12's best overall record (25-4) and conference mark (16-3).
*TCU head coach Gary Patterson is 12-2 as a head coach versus SMU.
*TCU is playing its first road game after opening the season with three home contests. Ten of the Horned Frogs' 12 games this season are in Texas.
*TCU is 9-6 in short-week games under Patterson.
*TCU is looking to open with a record of 3-1 or better for the eighth time in the last nine seasons and 12th time in 16 years under Patterson.

SERIES HISTORY
*The Horned Frogs hold a 48-40-7 edge over the Mustangs in a series that began with a 43-0 TCU win in Fort Worth in 1915.
*TCU has won eight of the last nine games with SMU and 14 of 16.
*TCU's last visit to SMU in 2014 resulted in a 56-0 victory for the most lopsided game in the series.
*The Horned Frogs are 21-22-2 versus the Mustangs in Dallas and 27-18-5 in Fort Worth.
*SMU is TCU's second-most played series. The Horned Frogs' 95 meetings with the Mustangs trail only Baylor (111).
*Other than the two seasons (1987-88) SMU did not field a team, the 2006 campaign represented the only time TCU and SMU have not met since 1925.

FAMILIAR FACES
*TCU outside receivers coach Rusty Burns, in his eighth season with the Horned Frogs, was SMU's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2004-07.
*SMU defensive line coach Buddy Wyatt was a four-year letterman (1986-89) for the Horned Frogs.
*Former TCU safety Chris Scott (2008-11) is a graduate assistant coach with the SMU defense.

ROAD WARRIORS
*Since 2009, TCU has the nation's third-best road record (29-9, .763).
*TCU is tied for sixth nationally in most road wins (6) over Associated Press Top-25 teams since 2009.
*TCU is 11-8 on the road in its Big 12 history.
*Four of TCU's last seven Big 12 road games have been decided by seven points or less. The Horned Frogs are 4-0 in those games. Since beginning Big 12 play in 2012, TCU is 8-4 in conference road games decided by seven points or less.

*Dating back to Sept. 21, 2014, the Horned Frogs have been ranked in at least one of the major polls in 31 of the last 32 weeks.
*The Horned Frogs have just eight scholarship seniors on this year's team.
*TCU has finished in the top 10 in back-to-back seasons and five times in the last eight years. In 15 seasons under head coach Gary Patterson, TCU has posted six top-10 finishes and 10 in the top 25.
*TCU has reached the 11-win mark eight times in the last 11 seasons.
*Dating back to last year, three of TCU's last five games have gone to multiple overtimes: a 28-21 win versus Baylor in double OT, a 47-41 victory over Oregon in triple OT at the Valero Alamo Bowl and a 41-38 defeat in double OT to Arkansas Sept. 10.
*TCU has at least one sack in a school-record 33 consecutive games, the second-longest active streak in the nation (Ohio State, 38).
*Kenny Hill is the only player to rank in the top seven nationally in total offense (400.3 yards per game), passing yards (345.0 yards per game) and rushing touchdowns (6).
*Kyle Hicks is one of just three running backs nationally with at least 225 yards rushing and 150 receiving.
*Kenny Hill (6) and Kyle Hicks (5) are tied for second nationally in most rushing touchdowns (11) by a pair of teammates.
*KaVontae Turpin, who leads the NCAA in punt returns (28.8 yards), is the only player nationally to rank in the top five in punt returns and kickoff returns. He is fifth in kickoff returns (32.8 yards).
*Turpin is averaging 19.5 yards each time he touches the ball this season.
*TCU linebackers Ty Summers (26) and Sammy Douglas (25) rank first and second, respectively, in the Big 12 in tackles.
