ABOUT THE GAME
*After an open date, TCU returns to action Saturday when it hosts SMU at 11 a.m.
*Dating back to 2006, TCU has a seven-game winning streak in contests following an open date.
*TCU is 25-8 in regular-season games following a loss under head coach Gary Patterson.
*TCU is 3-1 in 11 a.m. games the last two seasons.
*Patterson is 9-2 as a head coach versus SMU. As an assistant coach at Navy, New Mexico and TCU, Patterson was 4-2 against the Mustangs.
*Over the last nine seasons, the Horned Frogs are 45-6 in day games and 75-12 in Saturday contests.
*TCU is 24-14 against former Southwest Conference rivals, including a 12-4 mark versus SMU, since the league dissolved after the 1995 campaign.
*TCU is playing its second season in Amon G. Carter Stadium after its $164 million rebuild. Last month, Yahoo! Sports ranked Amon G. Carter Stadium as the best stadium in the Big 12.
*The Horned Frogs hold a 45-40-7 edge over the Mustangs in a series that began with a 43-0 TCU win in Fort Worth in 1915.
*TCU has won five of the last six games with the Mustangs and 11 of the past 13.
*The Horned Frogs are 25-18-5 versus SMU in Fort Worth and 20-22-2 in Dallas.
*SMU is tied with Texas A&M for TCU's second-most played series. The Horned Frogs' 92 meetings with the Mustangs trail only Baylor (108).
*Other than the two seasons (1987-88) SMU did not field a team, the 2006 campaign represented the only time TCU and SMU have not met since 1925.
COACH TO CURE MD
*TCU coaches will wear Coach to Cure MD patches on Saturday to raise awareness and funding for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy research. Fans can donate online at www.CoachtoCureMD.org or donate $5 by texting CURE to 90999.
DEFENDING ITS HOME
*TCU has won 29 of its last 34 home games and is 59-11 under Gary Patterson at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
*In its last 23 home dates, TCU has allowed just 43 touchdowns and outscored its opponents 961-358 (an average margin of 42-16).
*The Horned Frogs have seven shutouts in their past 40 home dates.
*TCU co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Rusty Burns was SMU's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2004-07.
*TCU tight end Griffin Gilbert, sidelined for the season by injury, is the younger brother of SMU quarterback Garrett Gilbert.
*TCU is the only Big 12 school to have played two teams currently ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 (No. 6 LSU, No. 25 Texas Tech).
*With two of its three games against top-25 opponents, TCU leads the Big 12 in sacks (eight) and interceptions (five).
*TCU was picked third in the preseason Big 12 poll. The Horned Frogs received nine first-place votes and were just 18 points behind favorite Oklahoma State.
*TCU has just 10 scholarship seniors on this year's roster.
*With 101 yards rushing against Texas Tech, Trevone Boykin became the first quarterback at TCU in 26 years (David Rascoe, vs. BYU, 1987) to reach the 100-yard mark. In his previous game versus Southeastern Louisiana, Boykin became the first signal caller in TCU history to lead the Horned Frogs in passing yards and receptions in the same game.
*All-America cornerback Jason Verrett held Texas Tech leading receiver Eric Ward without a catch. He also limited LSU's Odell Beckham Jr. to one reception.
