Oct. 5, 2015

IRVING, Texas -- The Big 12 Conference has announced TCU wide receiver KaVontae Turpin as its Co-Offensive Player of the Week.

A true freshman from Monroe, La., Turpin had four touchdown catches in the Horned Frogs' 50-7 win over Texas. For the game, he had career-best totals of six receptions and 138 yards.

The four touchdown catches were the most by a freshman in Big 12 history. It tied for the most in a game by an FBS player this season and was the highest total by a freshman in 2015.

Turpin had two of his receiving scores in the first quarter, helping TCU build a 30-0 lead in the opening 15 minutes. His scoring grabs were from 13, 49, 50 and 12 yards. He now has at least one receiving touchdown in three of the last four games.

Turpin added two carries for 14 yards, a 4-yard punt return and a 26-yard kickoff return to finish with 182 all-purpose yards.

TCU has now had a Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week in each of the last three games. Quarterback Trevone Boykin was recognized after the SMU contest, while wide receiver Josh Doctson received the award following the Texas Tech game.
