TCU Muscle Milk Athletes Of The Week
Oct. 5, 2016 FORT WORTH, Texas -- Rachel Garner of rifle and Taj Williams of football have been named TCU's Muscle Milk Athletes of the Week based on impressive performances.
Garner, a sophomore from Celina, Texas, was the top shooter overall in the season opener at the Citadel last week. Garner bested her previous career high of 592 by five points with a 597 in the air rifle portion of the match, while also posting a 585 in smallbore. Garner turned in a personal best 1,182 aggregate score to help the Horned Frogs tie the 2012 school record at 4,718.
TCU returns to the firing line this weekend when it travels to Fairbanks, Alaska for a pair of matches. The first match, a three-team match against Alaska and Air Force, is set for Saturday. Monday's match is slated to be a dual match against Air Force.
Williams, a junior from Tallahassee, Fla., had a career game against Oklahoma on Saturday. The wide receiver lit up the field as he totaled 210 yards on five receptions and two touchdowns. Williams helped lead the late surge by the Frogs with his touchdowns of 64 and 74 yards both coming in the fourth quarter. Williams' 210 yards in a single game are the fourth most in TCU history.
The Frogs will hit the field again on Saturday, Oct. 8, as they head to Lawrence, Kan. for an 11 a.m. showdown against the Jayhawks. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU.
