TCU Announces Scholar-Athletes of the Month

Oct. 6, 2016

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Kayla Hill of soccer and Patrick Morris of football have been named TCU's Scholar-Athletes of September for impressive performances on and off the field.

Hill dominated the month of September. In her eight starts last month, she produced four goals and five assists for 13 points. Hill opened the month by giving TCU a late score to break up a 1-1 tie against Illinois. Hill recorded two goals in TCU's win against Austin Peay and one in the tie against Washington State.

In addition to playing a huge role for her team on the soccer field, the Highlands Ranch, Colo. native has maintained incredible merit in the classroom. Last year, the then freshman was named to the 2015 Academic Big 12 All-Rookie team, and she has carried that same dedication to this year as well.

Morris, the junior offensive guard, has played a big part in the Horned Frogs' success on the football field. As a part of the line, Morris has helped the offense produce the second-most passing yards in the nation this season. Morris started the first four games at left guard before starting at center against Oklahoma.

The Denton, Texas native has stayed consistent in the classroom as well, though. In 2015, he was First-Team Academic All-Big 12, while maintaining a 3.6 GPA throughout his career.
