FORT WORTH - The TCU Athletics Department has named soccer's Jordan Calhoun and football's Tekerrein Cuba as its Athletes of the Week for the Week of Oct. 11.
On Oct. 8, Calhoun became TCU's all-time leading goal scorer when she found the back of the net in the third minute in a 3-1 win over UNLV.
The junior from Norman, Okla., added a second goal later in the contest to put space between her and former Frog great Lizzy Karoly, who is now second on the TCU all-time goals list. Calhoun's goal in the 66th minute gave the Horned Frogs a 3-0 lead.
Calhoun has scored 29 goals in her TCU career and earned Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors for her effort.
Cuba recorded 12 tackles in TCU's 45-0 win over Wyoming last Saturday. His 12 tackles were a game-high and the most by a Horned Frog this season.
The junior from Tyler, Texas, has stepped in for the injured Alex Ibiloye at weak safety each of the past two weeks when TCU has recorded shutouts.
The shutout wins against Wyoming and Colorado State are the first back-to-back shutouts for the Frogs since 1955 when TCU blanked three-straight opponents.
