Boykin Receives Big 12 Honor

Oct. 12, 2015

IRVING, Texas -- The Big 12 Conference has announced TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin as its Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in Saturday’s 52-45 win at Kansas State.

It's the second time Boykin has received the honor this season and the fourth straight week for a Horned Frog to be recognized. It's just the second time in Big 12 history (Oklahoma, 2004) for the same school to have the Offensive Player of the Week in four consecutive games.

Boykin previously received the honor after the win over SMU. Josh Doctson and KaVontae Turpin were recognized after victories over Texas Tech and Texas, respectively.

Boykin keyed TCU’s 18-point second-half comeback at Kansas State. It tied for the largest come-from-behind win in the 15-season tenure of head coach Gary Patterson.

A senior from Dallas, Boykin led the Horned Frogs on a game-winning drive in the final two minutes for the second straight Big 12 road contest.

Boykin's career-long 69-yard scoring run, with 6:07 to play, gave TCU a 46-45 lead. He then had a 2-point pass to Doctson to extend the margin to 48-45. His 55-yard TD pass to Doctson with 1:10 left provided the game-winning points.

Boykin totaled 425 yards of offense and four touchdowns. He ran for a career-high 124 yards on just 11 attempts, averaging 11.3 per carry with no negative yards. He also completed 20-of-30 passes for 301 yards. It was his fourth consecutive 300-yard passing game.

Boykin went over 9,000 career yards in passing (9,256) while extending his TCU career record to 76 touchdown passes.
