Pachall Named To Manning Award Watch List
Oct. 19, 2011
NEW ORLEANS -- TCU's Casey Pachall has been added to the watch list for the Manning Award, presented to the nation's top quarterback.
The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates' bowl performances in its balloting.
Pachall is on pace to set TCU single-season records for completions, attempts, completion percentage, yards passing and touchdown passes.
A sophomore from Brownwood, Texas, Pachall ranks 12th nationally with a 161.6 pass efficiency rating. He has a 69.0 completion percentage with 15 touchdowns and just four interceptions.
Dating back to last year, Pachall has a touchdown pass in each of his last seven games. He has thrown for multiple scores in five of six contests this season.
Pachall's completion percentage of 80.0 percent (20-of-25) at Air Force tied for the eighth-best single-game mark in TCU history. His 11 straight completions to start the game tied Andy Dalton (vs. Baylor, 2010) for second all-time in most consecutive completions at TCU. Dalton was a two-time Manning Award finalist.
Pachall was responsible for 34 points at Baylor in his first career start, marking the fourth-best single-game total in TCU history. His four touchdown passes against the Bears were one shy of equaling the TCU single-game record of five shared by three players.
Pachall has twice rallied TCU from fourth-quarter deficits of at least 17 points.
