ABOUT THE GAME
*After battling the last six years as Mountain West rivals, TCU and BYU meet in a non-conference Friday night match-up at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.
*The Horned Frogs are in their final season in the MW before heading to the Big 12, while the Cougars are in their debut campaign as an Independent.
*TCU will be playing in the state of Texas for the sixth time in eight games this season.
*TCU is playing at Cowboys Stadium for the second straight season. The Frogs defeated Oregon State, 30-21, in last year's season-opening Cowboys Classic.
*TCU and BYU are meeting on a non-Saturday for the fourth time in the last seven seasons. The teams played three straight years (2006-08) on a Thursday.
*In the four years it beat BYU as an MW opponent, TCU went on to post an overall 47-4 record with a 31-1 league mark.
*The Frogs finished 19-7 overall and 10-6 in the MW the two years they lost to BYU.
*TCU has won a Mountain West record 20 straight league games.
*The previous MW mark was 18 in a row by BYU (2006-08). The Frogs snapped the Cougars' streak with a 32-7 victory in 2008.
*TCU hasn't lost an MW contest since Nov. 6, 2008 at Utah (13-10).
*TCU's three-game winning streak over BYU has evened the all-time series at 5-5.
*TCU is 3-3 versus the Cougars in Fort Worth and 2-2 in Provo.
*When both teams were members of the MW, TCU had a 4-2 series advantage over BYU. The Frogs were 2-1 against the Cougars in Fort Worth and 2-1 in Provo.
*The first meeting between the teams was a 33-12 Frog victory in Fort Worth in 1987.
*A 38-7 Frog win in 2009 marked the only time TCU and BYU met with both teams ranked.
*Two of BYU's six home losses in the last six seasons are to TCU.
*Prior to 2005, TCU's first year in the MW, TCU and BYU had not met since the 1996-97 campaigns when both schools were members of the Western Athletic Conference.
*A 51-50 overtime victory in Provo in 2005 represents the largest come-from-behind win in Gary Patterson's 11-year tenure as TCU's head coach. The Frogs trailed by 18 points, 34-16, with less than two minutes to play in the third quarter.
FRIDAY NIGHT FUN
*TCU is playing on a Friday for the second time this season and third time in the last two years.
*All three Friday games have taken place in Texas. The Frogs lost 50-48 to Baylor in the 2011 season opener and won 41-24 at SMU last year.
*Prior to 2010, TCU had not played on a Friday since a 20-13 win over Houston in the 2007 Texas Bowl. Also before 2010, the Frogs' last regular-season Friday game had been Oct. 15, 2004, a 41-25 loss at UAB.
THE WIN COLUMN
*TCU has won 32 of its last 35 games and is 44-5 in its last 49 contests.
*Since the start of the 2008 season, TCU is 41-5. The Frogs' 41 wins trail only Boise State (45-2) and Alabama (44-5).
