Ty Summers
Nov. 28, 2016

IRVING, Texas -- The Big 12 Conference has announced TCU linebacker Ty Summers as its Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Saturday's 31-9 win at Texas.

Summers totaled a game-high 14 tackles, including two for loss, with a sack and pass breakup. He had a key stop on Texas' D'Onta Foreman at the 1-yard line as part of TCU's second quarter goal-line stand.

The sophomore from San Antonio was instrumental in the Horned Frogs' defense keeping the Longhorns out of the end zone and limiting them to just three field goals. TCU allowed only 153 yards in the second half as it outscored Texas 24-3 over the final two quarters.

Summers reached double figures in tackles for the eighth time in the last 10 games. He is second in the Big 12, behind teammate Travin Howard (119), with his 105 tackles on the year.

It's the second Big 12 defensive honor of the season for Summers. He was also recognized in September after a 41-20 victory over Iowa State.
