Scholar Athletes of the Month Announced
Dec. 3, 2013
Koontz, who is enrolled in graduate courses at TCU, capped off a stellar season that saw him begin his Horned Frog career as a freshman walk-on before earning a scholarship. He started every game and was a team captain in the 2013 season. The Aledo native had five tackles for loss in four November games and also had three sacks in that span. He also tied a career-high with six tackles against Baylor in his final collegiate contest.
He will earn his Master's of Liberal Arts degree in May.
Black entered the season as one of the Horned Frogs' top shooters following a successful freshman campaign, and built on that even more in November. Three times in the month she was the Horned Frogs' top air rifle or smallbore performer and twice in aggregate score.
The sophomore from Richmond, Va., recorded a career-best smallbore score of 581 on Nov. 15 against Jacksonville State, and also had a 580 on Nov. 9 versus Alaska. In air rifle, Black had back-to-back 589s on Nov. 17 and 23 against UTEP and Jacksonville State, respectively.
