FORT WORTH – TCU seniors Bart Johnson and Emily Carter are the November recipients of Scholar-Athlete of the Month, the TCU Athletics Deparment announced Tuesday.
Johnson was named a second-team ESPN Academic All-American on Nov. 23, TCU’s first since kicker Nick Browne in 2002 and 2003. He was also named an ESPN Academic All-District selection for the third-straight year.
On the field this season, Johnson is third on TCU in catches with 30 for 396 yards. In the month of November, the marketing major from Brownwood, Texas, hauled in seven catches and one touchdown.
Carter, an English major, netted a school-record 43 points in an 87-73 win over SMU on Nov. 17. Two nights later, she poured in 22 points against UTSA. Her efforts that week earned her Mountain West Player of the Week honors.
Against USTA, Carter’s streak of 60-consecutive free throws made came to an end, a mark that is tied for No. 2 all-time in the NCAA. Also in the month of November, the Bossier City, La., native scored 26 points in TCU’s season-opener against Houston Baptist.
