NEW YORK -- TCU linebacker Tank Carder has been named a third-team All-American by the Associated Press.

Carder, also a second-team All-American by CBSSports.com, was selected as the Mountain West's Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season.

Last year's Rose Bowl Defensive Most Valuable Player, Carder has 66 tackles with 4 1/2 for loss. The 66 stops trail fellow linebacker Kenny Cain by one for the TCU lead.

Carder has returned both his interceptions this season for touchdowns. His 69-yard return against Colorado State was TCU's longest pick for a score since 2004. He tied a season-high with nine tackles against the Rams to collect MW Defensive Player of the Week honors.

A senior from Sweeny, Texas, Carder ranks first all-time at TCU with three interception returns for touchdowns.

Carder's 224 career stops top all active TCU players and are the most by a Horned Frog since former linebackers Jason Phillips (315, 2005-08) and Robert Henson (272, 2005-08).
