CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Phil Steele Publications has named TCU kickoff returner Greg McCoy a second-team All-American with linebacker Tank Carder a fourth-team selection.

McCoy has now appeared on four All-America teams with Carder chosen for three. McCoy was the Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Year, while Carder received MW Defensive Player of the Year accolades for the second straight season.

A graduate student from Dallas, McCoy ranks fourth nationally with his average of 31.6 yards per kickoff return. McCoy has two touchdowns on the season, going 94 yards versus Louisiana-Monroe and 99 against UNLV. He set a TCU single-game record with 229 kickoff return yards at Baylor.

McCoy is the first Horned Frog since Cory Rodgers in 2005 to return two kickoffs for scores in the same season. McCoy's 99- and 94-yard touchdowns are the second- and third-longest in 11 seasons under Gary Patterson as head coach, surpassed only by Rodgers' 100-yard return at BYU in 2005.

McCoy's three career kickoff returns for touchdowns are tied with LaTarence Dunbar (1999-02) for first all-time at TCU. McCoy is one of just four Horned Frogs to have three total kick returns for a score in a career.

TCU had the first-team All-MW return specialist all seven seasons it was in the league (Rodgers, 2005; Brian Bonner, 2006-07; Jeremy Kerley, 2008-10; McCoy, 2011).

Last year's Rose Bowl Defensive Most Valuable Player, Carder has 66 tackles with 4 1/2 for loss. The 66 stops trail fellow linebacker Kenny Cain by one for the TCU lead.

Carder has returned both his interceptions this season for touchdowns. His 69-yard return against Colorado State was TCU's longest pick for a score since 2004. He tied a season-high with nine tackles against the Rams to collect MW Defensive Player of the Week honors.

A senior from Sweeny, Texas, Carder ranks first all-time at TCU with three interception returns for touchdowns.

Carder's 224 career stops top all active TCU players and are the most by a Horned Frog since former linebackers Jason Phillips (315, 2005-08) and Robert Henson (272, 2005-08).
