Frogs Headed to All-Star Games
Dec. 21, 2012
FORT WORTH, Texas -- TCU linebacker Kenny Cain and offensive guard Blaize Foltz are headed to collegiate all-star games next month.
Cain will play in the Jan. 11 Casino Del Sol College All-Star Game in Tucson, Ariz., while Foltz will appear in the Jan. 19 East-West Shrine Game in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Cain, a first-team Associated Press All-Big 12 selection, tops TCU in tackles (74) for the second straight season. His career-high 14 stops in a 20-13 win at Texas were the most by a TCU linebacker since Martin Patterson's 20 versus USF in 2004.
Cain is looking to become the first Horned Frog to lead TCU in tackles in consecutive seasons since current Carolina Panther Jason Phillips in 2007-08. Cain has already surpassed his team-high total of 72 stops from last season. He was the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week after his two interceptions, fumble recovery and four tackles in a 27-7 win over Virginia.
A native of Metairie, La., Cain is the lone senior on the depth chart for a TCU defense that ranks first in the Big 12 and 18th nationally while facing five of the nation's top-12 offenses this season.
Foltz is also an All-Big 12 selection and was honorable mention for Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year. He appeared on watch lists for the Outland Trophy and Rotary Lombardi Award.
The Rose Hill, Kan., native has started all 12 games at right guard.
Foltz is a key part of an offensive line that allows the Horned Frogs to rank fourth nationally in time of possession at 33:13 per game.
