Valero Alamo Bowl Fight Hunger Challenge Begins

TCU and Oregon are teaming up at the 2016 Valero Alamo Bowl to fight hunger in San Antonio! The teams are squaring off to see who can raise the most money to support the San Antonio Food Bank through the Valero Alamo Bowl Fight Hunger Challenge.

"This year's must watch game will add to the Valero Alamo Bowl's reputation for high scoring games that go down to the wire," said Derrick Fox, Valero Alamo Bowl President and CEO. "Now with each point scored generous fans will be supporting the tremendous efforts of the San Antonio Food Bank."

Fans can pledge to donate for every point scored by either TCU or Oregon in this year's game. The team raising the most money will be crowned the Fight Hunger Champion! Visit the team pages below to learn more and make your pledge today!

The San Antonio Food Bank provides food and grocery products to more than 500 partner agencies in 16 counties throughout Southwest Texas. The mission of the SAFB is to fight hunger in Southwest Texas through food distribution, programs, education, and advocacy. Every dollar donated helps provide 7 meals through the San Antonio Food Bank.

Pledge Incentives

Fans can make a pledge and earn incentives such as a VIP package for two and signed Valero Alamo Bowl memorabilia.

All donors are entered into a raffle to win a VIP experience for two to the game or a football signed by both head coaches (1 winner selected for each)
Pledge $3 per point or more (or donate $75+) -- Receive 2 complimentary Upper Level Tickets to the game
Pledge $8 per point or more (or donate $200+) -- Receive 2 complimentary Lower Level Tickets to the game
* Pledges must be made prior to midnight on December 26 to receive complimentary tickets. Raffle winners to be selected at random by the San Antonio Food Bank on 12/28.

Pledges can me made online through kickoff of the Valero Alamo Bowl on Saturday, January 2. However, donors after December 26 trying to earn bowl tickets must pledge or donate in person at the San Antonio Food Bank (5200 W Old US Highway 90, San Antonio, TX 78227) on Tuesday, December 29.

Starting at 9 a.m. at the Food Bank office, each $40 contribution or 40 donated items from Food Bank's most wanted list will receive one Valero Alamo Bowl ticket as they remain available. This list includes: Peanut Butter, Jelly, Cereal, Tuna, Beans, Rice, Mac n Cheese, Chili, Canned Stews, Canned Soups, Pasta, Pasta Sauce, Canned Corn, Canned Green Beans, Canned Fruit, Granola Bars, Canned Luncheon Meats, Shelf Stable Milk, Full Meals in a Can/Box and Pop Top Food Items.

Pledges can also be made in person on December 29 in the San Antonio Food Bank lobby. Those who pledge to $3+ per point will receive a pair of tickets as supplies last.

The San Antonio Food Bank relies on the generosity and support of local businesses, churches, foundations, corporations, government, civic groups and individuals in order to successfully continue serving Southwest Texans who are at risk of going hungry. 98% of donated resources go directly to food distribution programs.
