On bowl game mentality
"As far as we are concerned, we're here for one reason: to have a good time and try and win a ball game."

On the importance of special teams
"Obviously you get a month off. (MSU Coach Dantonio) said those comments (about special teams). You give up a fake punt or a long punt return and it's going to cause you problems. You've got to take care of your business. When you get longer to do it, sometimes they put in new wrinkles. We have to be ready for it."

On his freshmen
"I told them they weren't freshmen anymore. They weren't freshmen after seven games. It's time to go."

On the first bowl practice
"Today was just an ordinary practice. That's just the way we do it. It was like practice number 98. We've gotten better in some areas. We are banged up a little bit. Win or lose, you'll find out. You'll remember this one more than the end of the season games. This is the one everybody will talk about when you go home."

On Michigan State's offense
"We've played some good offenses this year so we have to do the same thing we have always had to do."

On new surroundings
"When we got here on Monday we got checked in and then we went to (Sun Devil Stadium) and our practice facility. We will go back on Friday to take a team picture. We felt like last time we were here for the Fiesta Bowl, because of the NFL game, we didn't get a chance to see the stadium. Then we went to the Rose Bowl and got it all out of our system. It's just getting these guys to seeing what they are going to see so they don't worry about anything but a ball game."

On Michigan State
"The great part about this is we are playing a really great opponent. They are good people. Coach Dantonio and his wife are great people, the staff are great people. This is what you like to be a part of. For three hours on Saturday you have to go get after it because that's how you keep your job."

On this week's preparation
"For us it's the same thing we've done all year. There's no chance to get any free agents. The guys we have, we have. Trying to win by one point. We've practiced hard. We took off Friday, Saturday and Sunday and really Monday, so they've had four days. For us, really after tomorrow morning, we are done. They have most of the day Thursday and all day Friday and Saturday, so you are talking about really 48 hours of rest before you go play a ball game."
