TCU Grabs Third-Place Finish in Hawaii
Feb. 8, 2014
WAIKOLOA, Hawaii - Led by rounds of 67 from Julien Brun and Sarosh Adi, the TCU men's golf team surged to a third-place finish on Saturday at the Amer Ari Invitational at Waikoloa Kings' Course. The Horned Frogs finished tied or ahead of eight of the nation's top-40 squads en route to matching their best finish of the season.
TCU carded a 9-under 279 to climb four spots on the final day, finishing just four strokes behind runner up and 19th-ranked Washington.
Brun posted six birdies to just one bogey on the final 18 holes, matching his opening round 5-under 67, which tied for the Antibes, France, native's lowest round in a team tournament this season. Brun climbed 16 positions on the final day to lock in his third top-10 finish of the season and 21st of his career.
Adi, a junior from Plano, Texas, enjoyed his finest round as a Horned Frog with a career-low 67 to match the best finish of his career in 30th place. Adi rolled in five birdies with no bogeys and only failed to reach par or better in three of the 54 holes in the tournament.
Barrett entered the final round in third spot and turned in an even-par 72 to secure his first-collegiate top-10 finish in a tie for ninth. The Keene, N.H., native totaled 14 birdies over the 54-hole tournament, with four bogeys as his only blemish.
The Frogs return to action on Feb. 21 for the three-day Desert Intercollegiate in Palm Desert, Calif.
