Men's Golf Takes Seventh Place at Hall of Fame Invitational

HUMBLE, Texas - The TCU men's golf team held onto seventh place among 18 teams at the Hall of Fame Invitational after shooting a team score of 298 (+10) in Sunday's final round. TCU had a pair of golfers finish among the field's top 20, as seniors Adam Meyer (T-6th) and Stephen Polanski (T-19th) headed the Horned Frog troops.

Meyer, who began the day with a share of second place individually, owned the team's best score for the second straight round, as he carded an even-par 72 on a tough scoring day. He finished the event with a five-under total of 211 (-5). The China Spring, Texas, product has now placed among the field's top 10 in five of TCU's last six tournaments.

Polanski.'s top-20 finish was his second ever and was the highest finish of his four-year career. He completed the three-round event with a one-over score of 217 after his second straight 75. Teammate David Schultz moved up nearly 20 spots on the leaderboard on the final day after notching a one-over-par 73 on Sunday. The junior tied for 35th place with a 54-hole sum of 221 (+5).

Sophomore Colby Beckstrom was the Frogs' next finisher (T-64th), as he posted an 11-over 227 following a six-over 78 on Sunday. He completed the tourney one stroke ahead of junior J.J. Killeen (228), who shot a plus-seven 79 on the final day to tie for 68th.

Of the 18 teams at the Hall of Fame Invitational, 10 are ranked among the top 25 in the most recent GCAA/Precept Coaches' Poll, with eight ranked among the top 13. The tournament's ranked teams include: No. 6 Oklahoma State, No. 7 Arizona State, No. 8 Texas, No. 9 TCU, No. 10 UNLV, No. 11 Minnesota, No. 12 New Mexico, No. 13 Arizona, No. 18 Arkansas and No. 22 Oklahoma. In addition, the field contains amateur teams from England and Sweden, along with NCAA Division II champion Francis Marion University and NCAA Division III champion Averett College.



The Horned Frogs are next in action at the U.S. Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz. from March 28-30.
