STANFORD, Calif.—Freshman Paul Barjon claimed the first individual collegiate win of his Horned Frog career Saturday, posting a three-stroke victory to lead TCU to runner-up team honors at the U.S. Intercollegiate at Stanford Golf Course.

Barjon completed the tournament with his third straight sub-70 round, firing a 3-under-par 67 to finish at -11 overall. He won the event by three shots over Stanford’s Patrick Rodgers, one of three finalists last season for the Ben Hogan Award given to the nation’s top college golfer.

A native of Noumea Cedex, New Caledonia, Barjon played bogey-free golf in his final round while running his streak of consecutive rounds finishing below 70 to four dating back to the final day of the National Invitational Tournament in Tucson, Ariz. He opened the tournament with two straight rounds of 66, his low scores in his brief time as a Frog, and now has two top-10 finishes this season.

Barjon’s efforts helped lead a final-day TCU surge that saw the squad post the low single-round team total of the entire tournament (269). The Frogs finished in second place at -17 overall, six strokes back of team champion Stanford, which was playing on its home course. St. Mary’s came in third at -1 overall.

TCU, rated No. 8 in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin national team rankings, has now posted top-3 finishes in seven of its nine tournaments this season while placing runner-up in each of the last three events. The field featured two other top-10 teams in No. 7 USC and No. 10 Stanford.

Senior Eli Cole joined Barjon in the final top-10 on the individual leaderboard in a tie for ninth place at -1 overall following a 4-under 66 on the final day, his lowest career round as a Frog. Cole posted his fifth top-10 result of the season after entering the year with only one for his entire Frog career.

Sophomore Julien Brun climbed back to par for the tournament with a Saturday 67 to earn a share of 16th place. Senior Pontus Gad rounded out the TCU team scoring with a final-round 69 while tying for 22nd place overall (+1), while fellow senior Daniel Jennevret tied for 48th place (+6).

TCU returns to action April 13 through 14 at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate in Austin, Texas.
