TCU in Fourth Place Entering Final Round

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The TCU men's golf team posted an 11-under 565 through Monday's opening 36 holes at the Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational at the Country Club of Spartanburg to place in a tie for fourth, while Julien Brun and Giulio Castagnara both enter Tuesday's final round in the top 10.
The Horned Frogs caught fire on the back nine of the opening round en route to a 10-under 278, marking their third-lowest round of the season and the second lowest for an opening round. TCU followed up with a 1-under 287 in the rain-delayed second round and enter Tuesday's final 18 holes just eight strokes out of second place.
Julien Brun led the Frogs on Monday with rounds of 68 and 69 to place in a tie for fourth overall at 7-under. The junior standout rolled in five birdies on the back nine of the opening round with no miscues for his second-lowest round of the season and wrapped up the second round with birdies on two of the last four holes.
Brun, who averages a 70.40 in the final round this season, will enter the remaining 18 holes just four strokes off of the tournament leader, Elon's John Somers.
Freshman Giulio Castagnara put together the best 36 holes of his young career, firing a season-low 68 in the opening round before following up with a 1-under 71 to place in a tie for ninth overall. The Pordenone, Italy, native notched his second-career eagle in the opening round and put together a very consistent second round with two birdies against only one bogey.
Fellow freshman Chelso Barrett also fired a sub-70 round in the opening 18 holes on Monday with a 3-under 69, marking his fourth round in the 60's this season and the first since Feb. 22. The Keene, N.H., native followed up with a 2-over 74 and enters Tuesday in 29th spot.
