TEMPE, Ariz. - TCU golfer Bret Guetz blistered the Karsten Course with a 54-hole score of 200 to set a new individual record at the ASU Thunderbird/Savane Invitational over the weekend. With the victory, Guetz joined fellow senior Steve Shuert as tournament champions this year.

Guetz's 16-under par total of 200 was one stroke better than the previous record, set by Arizona State's Jeff Quinney in 1999. Guetz bested this year's second-place finisher by three strokes en route to his first-ever collegiate championship. He was sensational in all three rounds, shooting three successive sub-70 scores (68, 65, 67) to record the best three-round total in school history. His second-round total of 65 ranks as the second-best in school annals. It was Guetz's third top-10 placement this season and the fifth of his career.

As a team, the seventh-rated Horned Frogs placed in a tie for fifth with a 845. TCU was solid all weekend, shooting under par in each of the three rounds (283, 282, 280).

TCU's J.J. Killeen and Adam Rubinson shared 31st place with scores of 214, good for two-under par. Andy Doeden (219) tied for 57th place and Steve Shuert (227) landed in a tie for 82nd place.
