LAFAYETTE, Ind.—Senior Johan de Beer sits in a tie for second place entering Sunday’s final round of the Boilermaker Invitational after shooting even par Saturday in the first two rounds of play held at the Kampen Course of Purdue’s Boilermaker Golf Complex.

The Day 1 performance by de Beer helped a shorthanded TCU men’s golf team grab 10th place out of 18 squads on the team leaderboard with a 33-over-par total of 609 through two rounds . Two regulars in the Horned Frog lineup, freshmen Julien Brun and Thomas Mantovanini, are not competing this weekend in preparation for the Mountain West Championship to be held in two weeks in Tucson, Ariz.

De Beer opened the tournament with a 1-over 73 in Round 1 before evening up his scorecard in Round 2 with a 1-under 71. He totaled one bogey and no birdies in his first trip around the course before recording four birdies and three bogeys in his second round. The Pretoria, South Africa, native will look for his fourth consecutive top-10 finish by finishing out the tournament strong on Sunday, while he also has a shot at his second career victory. He will enter the final round four strokes behind individual leader Rafael Becker (Wichita State), who is the only individual in the field in red figures at -4.

Joining de Beer in the top 20 of the 93-man field was junior Daniel Jennevret, who sits in a three-way tie for 20th place at +4. He carded scores of 73 and 75, combining for three birdies and seven bogeys during the two rounds.

Also adding to TCU’s team total Saturday was freshman Greg Holmes, who recorded scores of 80 and 76 to finish in a tie for 52nd place at +12 overall. Sophomore Johnny Antle and freshman Sarosh Adi are tied for 76th place (+18). Antle contributed to TCU’s first-round total with an 82, while Adi’s second-round 79 was added to the Frogs’ score.

TCU concludes the Boilermaker Invitational on Sunday. Competition begins at 8:45 a.m. EDT with tee times off holes No. 1 and 10.
