Tuesday Update: Tuesday competition at the Big 12 Men's Golf Championship has been cancelled due to inclement weather in the Hutchinson, Kan. area. Round 3, which will now be the final round, will begin at Noon on Wednesday. Remaining Round 2 action will be completed Wednesday morning.

HUTCHINSON, Kan.—TCU began competition at the Big 12 Men’s Golf Championship on a cool and windy Monday with the first 36 holes of play at Prairie Dunes Country Club.

Temperatures dipped into the mid 40’s during the opening two rounds with wind gusts of up to 40 miles per hour. The morning round was delayed more than one hour due to lightning, while afternoon tee times were delayed once again by 45 minutes. Play was called off in the early evening with only three teams having completed their second rounds (Texas, Oklahoma State and TCU).

The adverse conditions had major effects on scoring, as no team finished the opening day better than +11 overall. TCU currently sits in third place at +18, seven strokes behind team leader Texas (+11) and one shot behind second-place Oklahoma State (+17). Single rounds remain to be played on both Tuesday and Wednesday following the conclusion of Round 2.

Senior Daniel Jennevret currently leads all Horned Frogs on the individual leaderboard in a tie for fourth place at +2 overall. He opened the day with a 5-over-par 75 before matching the low score in Round 2 with a 3-under 67. He chipped in for birdie on hole No. 8 to help climb within five shots of Texas’ Brandon Stone, who leads the field at -3 overall.

Joining Jennevret in the top 10 are senior Pontus Gad and sophomore Julien Brun, who sit in a four-way tie for 10th place at +5 overall. Both Frogs got off to a strong start, firing even-par 70’s in the opening round before posting matching scores of 5-over 75 as the wind picked up in the afternoon session.

Senior Eli Cole is one stroke back of both Gad and Brun in a tie for 14th place at +6 overall. He posted rounds of 72 and 74. Sophomore Sarosh Adi, filling in for injured freshman lineup regular Paul Barjon, is tied for 35th at +13 overall (76, 77).

TCU is scheduled to continue competition at the Big 12 Championship on Tuesday, although cold and windy conditions are expected to remain along with a chance for snow. The Frogs are expected to tee off at 1 p.m. following the conclusion of remaining Round 2 action, which is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
