SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The third-seeded TCU men's golf team was unable to reach the 2005 NCAA Championships, as the Horned Frogs missed the cut line by five strokes at the NCAA Central Regional, which was held at Notre Dame University's Warren Course. TCU posted a final-round 295 (+15) to complete the 54-hole event with a 40-over 880 and a tie for 17th place.

TCU, who last month won an all-sport school-record fifth straight conference title, was competing in the regionals for the 16th straight time under head coach Bill Montigel. TCU was bidding to advance to the NCAA Championships for the 14th time in school history. Ten of TCU's 13 previous trips have come in the past 15 seasons.

"We're very disappointed to have our season end this way," Montigel said. "We just didn't play very well. I hate to see J.J. (Killeen) and David (Schultz) end their careers here. They've done so much for TCU golf over their careers and will definitely be missed. There are just so many good teams and there is so much parity in college golf that it gets harder and harder each year to make it out of regionals. There are never any guarantees, and we just didn't play well enough the last three days to advance."

Sophomore Drew Stoltz matched the Frogs' best round of the tournament with a final-round 70 (E) that included three birdies and three bogeys. He finished tied for 36th among the 141 participants after recording a 73 in the first round and a 75 on Friday.

Schultz and Killeen, both seniors playing in their final collegiate event, tied for 56th with three-round 221s. Three-time all-conference performer Schultz, who began the day with a share of 11th place, struggled to a 9-over 79. Killeen, the Conference USA Player of the Year, carded his second straight 73.

Junior Colby Beckstrom settled for a 75 after a double bogey on the final hole. He finished tied for 98th position with a three-round 227 (+17). Freshman James Sacheck landed in a tie for 108th after a final-round 77. He owned a 20-over 230.
