Sacheck tied for 73rd overall at NCAA National Championships

James Sacheck (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville H.S.) tied for 73rd overall at the conclusion of the first round of action at the 2008 NCAA Division I Men's Golf National Championships on Wednesday (May 28) at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex in West Lafayette, Ind. On a windy morning in West Lafayette, Ind. - Sacheck notched an 18-hole tally of six-over-par 78 after shooting seven-over-par on the front nine followed by a one-under-par 34 on the final nine holes of action. "I'm really proud of the way that James played this morning," said TCU head men's golf coach Bill Montigel. "The conditions were extremely tough in the morning - and James really hung in there and shot an incredible final nine holes. He's played extremely well thus far." Kevin Chappell of UCLA currently holds the lead after the conclusion of the first round with a three-under-par score of 69 while David Markle of Kent State and Tim Sluiter of USC are tied for second with a two-under-par score of 70. The second round of the 2008 NCAA Division I Men's Golf National Championships will be held on Thursday (May 29) in West Lafayette, Ind. TCU Athletic Media Relations
