Men's Golf Places Third at Pebble Beach
Aug. 31, 2014
MONTEREY, Calif. - Andrew Presley fired a final-round 69 to help lead the TCU men's golf team to a third-place finish among some of the nation's top programs at the Carmel Cup at Pebble Beach Golf Links on Sunday.
Following Saturday's electric 10-under second round to climb into contention, the Horned Frogs carded a 3-over 363 to secure their third-place showing, finishing ahead of four top-20 teams from last season.
Presley, a senior making his TCU debut after spending the last three seasons at LSU, followed up Saturday's 4-under round of 68 with a 69 to finish in a tie for fourth individually at 5-under. After going 1-under on the front nine, Presley opened the back nine with three consecutive birdies and led the Frogs on the weekend with 14 total birdies.
Freshman Chelso Barrett climbed 10 spots on the final day to finish 15th with a 1-under 71, posting three birdies against only one bogey on the final nine holes.
Senior Julien Brun finished the weekend tied with Barrett in 15th, closing play with a 2-over 74.
The Frogs will return to action on Sept. 26 with the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate in Albuquerque, N.M.
