Preview: Amer Ari Invitational

FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU men’s golf will begin its spring semester of competition Thursday at the Amer Ari Invitational in Waikoloa, Hawaii.

The Horned Frogs will begin at 11:30 a.m. CT at one of the most scenic golf courses in the world, the Waikoloa Beach Resort (King’s Course). The 54-hole tournament will conclude on Saturday.

TCU will go with the lineup of Turner MacLean, Pierre Mazier, Stefano Mazzoli, David Ravetto and Hayden Springer. Triston Fisher will compete as an individual.

The tournament will boost the Frogs strength of schedule, which is ranked 11th after the four fall events. The talented field at the Amer Ari Invitational features seven teams out of 18 that were ranked in the top 25 of the final fall Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll in November.

Last Time Out
Fisher had the best 54-hole score of his career and finished tied for seventh to lead TCU at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate on Oct. 22, 2017. Fisher shot 6-under 210, both career-bests for strokes under par and total score. Ravetto also had his best performance as a Horned Frog after shooting 3-over 219. TCU finished tied for 11 in a field where nine of the 15 were ranked in the Top 25.

Turner MacLean (Junior – Fort Worth, Texas) – Shot 2-under 70 all three rounds at The Carmel Cup… Stroke average: 70.33… Member of the 2017 Academic All-Big 12 First Team.

Pierre Mazier (Junior – Saint-Raphael, France) – Had a second-round score of 5-under 67 at The Carmel Cup to follow his first round of 68 and finished tied for 18th overall with a score of 5-under 211… Score average: 72.58.

Stefano Mazzoli (Junior – Moforfano, Italy) – Finished under par in all four fall tournaments… Has five sub-70 rounds this season… Shot a career-low 5-under 205 at the Ram Masters Invitational… Scoring average: 70.00.

David Ravetto (Junior – Paris, France) – Competed twice this season… Shot 3-over 219 at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate… Scoring average: 75.50… Transfer from Texas Wesleyan… Won the NAIA National Championship as a freshman in 2016.

Hayden Springer (Junior – Trophy Club, Texas) – Tied for 23rd with Mazzoli at The Carmel Cup after shooting 3-under 213… Scoring average: 72.89… Transfer from Texas Tech.
