TCU to Compete in Desert Intercollegiate

PALM DESERT, Calif. - The TCU men's golf team will kick off its second tournament of the spring on Friday at the 2014 University of Wyoming Cowboy Desert Intercollegiate at The Classic Club.

The Horned Frogs will look to continue their momentum after a strong third-place showing in the season-opening tournament in Waikolao, Hawaii, where junior Julien Brun and freshman Chelso Barrett both recorded top-10 showings among the nation's top programs.

Play begins on the par 72, 7,305-yard course with 18 holes on Friday followed by rounds on Saturday and Sunday.

TCU, ranked No. 41 nationally, will be joined this weekend by No. 39 Texas Tech, No. 45 Iowa State, No. 46 Oregon, Wyoming, Cal Poly, George Mason, Colorado, UC Riverside, Kansas, Idaho, Nebraska, Arkansas-Little Rock, Kansas State, Oregon State, Denver, Santa Clara, Southern Utah, UC Santa Barbara, UT Arlington, ULM, Loyola Marymount and San Francisco.

Filling out the lineup card for the Frogs at the Desert Intercollegiate be junior Julien Brun, freshman Chelso Barrett, junior Sarosh Adi, sophomore Paul Barjon and freshman Giulio Catagnara.

Julien Brun
• Fired two rounds of 67 in Hawaii earlier this month for his third top-10 finish of the season.
• Entered his junior season as the TCU record holder in stroke average (70.41) and tournament wins (six).
• Lone two-time First-Team All-American (PING) in program history.
• Posted two top-10 finishes in three fall tournaments with 71.67 stroke average.
• Currently ranked No. 20 among college golfers according to Golfweek/Sagarin ranking.

Chelso Barrett
• Carded lowest round of the season for the Frogs in a team tournament with a 66 in the opening round in Hawaii.
• Earned first-career top-10 finish (ninth) earlier this month in Hawaii at 10-under.
• Played in all three fall tournaments to open his collegiate career.
• Locked in back-to-back top-30 finishes in final two tournaments of the fall season.
• Competed in nine USGA events prior to beginning his collegiate career.

Sarosh Adi
• Recorded best tournament of his career earlier this month in Hawaii with rounds of 72, 71 and a career-low 67 for a top-30 finish.
• Failed to reach par or better in only three of 54 holes in Hawaii.
• Competed in two of three fall tournaments for the Horned Frogs.
• Has competed in nine collegiate tournaments in his career.

Paul Barjon
• Opened the tournament in Hawaii earlier this month with a 3-under 69.
• Posted two top-20 finishes during the fall, including fifth-place showing at Crooked Stick Intercollegiate.
• Carded a final-round 71 to earn fifth-place finish at Crooked Stick.
• Led the squad with two eagles during the three fall tournaments.
• Posted back-to-back rounds of 66 to claim first tournament win at Stanford as a freshman.

Giulio Castagnara
• Finished at 3-over in the spring opener in Hawaii, including a career-low 70 in the opening round.
• Competed in final two fall tournaments, the first of his collegiate career.
• Earned a 29th-place finish at the Crooked Stick Intercollegiate.
