Preview: Southern Highlands Collegiate

FORT WORTH, Texas – Coming off a win at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate, the TCU men’s golf team will begin play at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Monday in Las Vegas, Nev.

The Horned Frogs will start 18 holes at 11 a.m. CT. The three-day tournament, that features seven of the nation’s top 25 teams, concludes Wednesday.

TCU will go with the lineup of Turner MacLean, Pierre Mazier, Stefano Mazzoli and David Ravetto. Hayden Springer will compete as an individual.

The Course – Par 72 | 7,510yards
The Southern Highlands Golf Club is a private course in the southwest foothills of Greater Las Vegas. The course was named "One of the Top Residential Golf Courses in the United States" by Golf Digest magazine and has hosted two PGA Tour events.

UNLV is the host school for the tournament. USC won the team championship last season while TCU finished 14th.

Last Time Out
TCU won the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate on Feb. 27 in Hilton Head, S.C. The Frogs shot 11-under853 to finish one shot ahead of Georgia and win their first tournament of the season. Mazzoli won the second tournament of his TCU career, tying a career-low 10-under 206. He shot a 65 in the final round, which set a Wexford Plantation Golf Course record. Ravetto shot 3-under 213 and finished tied for fifth.

Triston Fisher (Junior – Southlake, Texas) – Shot a career-best 6-under 210 at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate… Stroke average: 73.14… Member of the 2017 Academic All-Big 12 First Team.

Turner MacLean (Junior – Fort Worth, Texas) – Shot 2-under 70 all three rounds at The Carmel Cup… Stroke average: 71.48… Member of the 2017 Academic All-Big 12 First Team.

Pierre Mazier (Junior – Saint-Raphael, France) – Had a second-round score of 5-under 67 at The Carmel Cup to follow his first round of 68 and finished tied for 18th overall with a score of 5-under 211… Had season-best 7-under 209 at the Amer Ari Invitational… Has shot sub-70 five times… Score average: 72.38.

Stefano Mazzoli (Junior – Moforfano, Italy) – Finished under par in every tournament this season… Three top-10 finishes including winning the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate… Has nine sub-70 rounds this season, already better than the seven shot last season… Shot a career-low 10-under 206 twice, at the Amer Ari Invitational and the Wesford Plantation Intercollegiate… One of two golfers in TCU history to have three or more rounds of 7-under par in their career… Scoring average: 69.90 (team best).

David Ravetto (Junior – Paris, France) – Shot a season-best 4-over 212 at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate… Tied a career-best 5-under 67 twice this season… Scoring average: 73.00… Transfer from Texas Wesleyan… Won the NAIA National Championship as a freshman in 2016.

Hayden Springer (Junior – Trophy Club, Texas) – Tied for 23rd at The Carmel Cup after shooting 3-under 213, his best as a Horned Frog… Scoring average: 73.13… Transfer from Texas Tech.
