TCU Golfers Move Into Share of 11th at Southern Highlands

FORT WORTH, Texas - No. 9 TCU trimmed four strokes off its team score and moved up one slot in the standings at the Southern Highlands Collegiate in Las Vegas, Nev. on Saturday afternoon. After today's 296, the Horned Frogs now own a two-round total of 596 (+20), and sit in a share of 11th place among 15 teams.
UNLV tops the team standings with a one-under 575, while three other teams are within two strokes of the lead. South Carolina's Mark Anderson leads the individual race with a two-round 138 (-6).
Just five strokes behind the leader is TCU's J.J. Killeen. The senior from Lubbock carded a two-under 70 on Saturday and now has a 143 (-1) over 36 holes. Killeen played both the front and back nines at one-under, and is tied for seventh place. He is in search of his second consecutive top-10 finish this spring and the fifth of his career.
David Schultz played even-par golf in round two to scoot up into a share of 22nd place individually. The senior has a two-round sum of 146 (+2). Meanwhile, junior Colby Beckstrom is tied for 42nd place with a 149 (+5) after scoring a 76 today.
True freshman Franklin Corpening remained in a tie for 72nd after a 78, which is two strokes better than his score from yesterday. He now has a 36-hole total of 158 (+14). Junior Jeff Marcinowski (T-78th, 161) carded an 80 in the second round.
The tournament, which features 12 teams in the top 15 according to the GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll, is being held at the Southern Highlands Golf Course. Among the teams competing in the event include: No. 1 Oklahoma State, No. 2 Georgia Tech, No. 3 Georgia, No. 4 New Mexico, No. 5 Auburn, No. 6 Wake Forest, No. 9 TCU, No. 10 Florida, No. 11 Texas, No. 12 Arizona State, No. 13 UCLA, No. 15 UNLV, No. 18 Clemson, No. 23 Washington and unranked South Carolina.
