TCU Set to Compete at The Goodwin

STANFORD, Calif. - The TCU men's golf team returns to action on Friday when they compete at The Goodwin, formerly the U.S. Intercollegiate, at the Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif.

TCU is one of eight top-50 squads among the field of 18 competing at the par-70, 6,727-yard course that includes No. 7 Stanford, No 18 UCLA, No. 19 Washington, No. 22 UNLV, No. 28 USC, No. 33 San Diego State, No. 45 Oregon, No. 46 Northwestern, Colorado State, Fresno State, Loyola Marymount, San Jose State, San Francisco, St. Mary's, UAB, UC Davis and Washington State.

The Horned Frogs earned a runner-up finish at last season's U.S. Intercollegiate, renamed in 2014 in honor of former Stanford head coach Wally Goodwin, while Paul Barjon earned his first-career tournament title with an 11-under 199. Barjon was named the Golfweek National Player of the Week for his efforts, where he carded the lowest 54-hole total at TCU since at least 1994.

Barjon, a sophomore from Noumea Cedex, New Caledonia, is joined this weekend by juniors Julien Brun and Sarosh Adi and freshmen Chelso Barrett and Giulio Castagnara.

Julien Brun
• Currently ranked as high as No. 8 nationally by Scratch Players world amateur ranking.
• Claimed his seventh-career title at the Desert Intercollegiate on Feb. 23.
• Has finished in the top 12 in six of seven tournaments this season.
• Named a finalist last season for The Ben Hogan Award.
• Lone two-time First-Team All-American (PING) in program history.

Chelso Barrett
• Carded second-lowest round of the season for the Frogs with a 66 in the opening round in Hawaii.
• Earned first-career top-10 finishes in back-to-back tournaments on Feb. 8 and Feb. 23.
• Currently has a 73.95 stroke average in his first seven collegiate tournaments.
• Has fired three sub-70 rounds, all coming this spring.
• Competed in nine USGA events prior to beginning his collegiate career.

Paul Barjon
• Has registered a 73.17 stroke average in four tournaments in the spring compared to 75.33 stroke average during the fall.
• Fired a season-low 68 in TCU's last action at Tucson National Invitational.
• Posted two top-20 finishes during the fall, including fifth-place showing at Crooked Stick Intercollegiate.
• Carded a final-round 71 to earn fifth-place finish at Crooked Stick.
• Posted back-to-back rounds of 66 to claim first tournament win at Stanford as a freshman.

Giulio Castagnara
• Carded season-low 69 in TCU's last action at Tucson National Invitational.
• Finished at 3-over in the spring opener in Hawaii, including an opening-round 70.
• Has competed in six of seven tournaments in his first collegiate season.
• Earned a career-best 29th-place finish at the Crooked Stick Intercollegiate.

Sarosh Adi
• Recorded best tournament of his career earlier in Hawaii with rounds of 72, 71 and a career-low 67 for a top-30 finish.
• Failed to reach par or better in only three of 54 holes in Hawaii.
• Competed in six of seven tournaments this season.
• Has seen action in 12 collegiate tournaments in his career.
