FORT WORTH—No. 7 TCU returns to action this weekend with its only in-state tournament of the season at the two-day, 54-hole Morris Williams Intercollegiate in Austin.

The event will be played at the University of Texas Golf Club, a par-71, 7,412-yard course, Saturday through Sunday. The Horned Frogs are scheduled to play two 18-hole rounds on Saturday before finishing off the event Sunday with the final round.

TCU will be one of five top-25 squads competing in Austin according to the latest Golfweek/Sagarin performance index along with No. 3 Texas, No. 4 New Mexico, No. 14 Oklahoma State and No. 18 Kent State. Filling out the 12-team field will be No. 26 Houston, No. 30 UNLV, No. 34 North Texas, No. 36 Liberty, No. 42 Texas Tech, No. 43 Baylor and No. 95 UT Arlington.

Five Frogs will comprise TCU’s lineup: sophomore Julien Brun; seniors Pontus Gad, Daniel Jennevret and Eli Cole; and freshman Paul Barjon. Sophomore Sarosh Adi will join the field as an individual entry.

TCU looks to keep its run of spring success intact this weekend. The squad has posted top-3 finishes in six of its seven spring tournaments, including three consecutive runner-up performances entering this weekend. Two of the last three tournaments saw the Frogs finish behind only the host institutions that were playing on their home courses.

TCU's team ranking marks its high-water mark of the season. The squad entered the spring ranked 43rd nationally according to Golfweek before starting its steady climb back in early February.

Brun enters the tournament as one of the individual favorites with the No. 4 national ranking, which trails only Texas’ Brandon Stone (No. 2). Other top-50 golfers scheduled to participate include No. 17 James Erkenbeck (UNLV), No. 18 Corey Conners (Kent State), No. 26 Cody Gribble (Texas), No. 32 Gavin Green (New Mexico), No. 33 Kevin Penner (UNLV), No. 42 Taylor Pendrith (Kent State) and No. 50 Talor Gooch (Oklahoma State).

In addition to Brun, each of the four other individuals in the Frogs’ lineup also boast top-120 national rankings: No. 71 Gad, No. 78 Jennevret, No. 87 Cole and No. 120 Barjon. Barjon earned his first collegiate victory in TCU's latest outing with a three-stroke victory at the U.S. Intercollegiate in Stanford, Calif. The win earned him National Player of the Week honors from Golfweek. It marked the fourth individual win by a Frog this season after three earlier event titles for Brun.

TCU has experienced success playing at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate in recent seasons. The squad finished third place overall last year and was fourth in 2011 behind a top-medalist effort by then-Frog senior Tom Hoge.

This weekend’s tournament will be the Frogs’ tournament prior to its inaugural appearance at the Big 12 Championship April 22 through 24 at Prairie Dunes Golf Club in Hutchinson, Kan. The squad will make a short trip to Atlanta, Ga., for a one-day dual match against Georgia Tech on April 19 at the Capital City Club, host site of this year’s NCAA Championship.
