Brun Takes Lead at Big 12 Championship

TRINITY, Texas -- TCU junior Julien Brun's 6-under-par 66 vaulted him into the individual lead, while the Horned Frogs are tied for fourth after Saturday's third round of the Big 12 Championship at Whispering Pines Golf Club.
Brun began his day five shots off the lead. He totaled seven birdies while shooting par on 10 holes. The Antibes, France, native birdied three consecutive holes on the back nine and recorded five birdies in a six-hole stretch.
It was the 44th sub-70 round of Brun's career.
With a 5-under 211, Brun will enter Sunday's final round with a 3-stroke lead over Beau Hossler of Texas.
"Julien had a terrific day," TCU head coach Bill Montigel said. "He made a lot of putts and was great with his decisions."
TCU is tied with No. 2 Oklahoma State for fourth place. At 2-over 866, Texas Tech holds a 1-stroke advantage over No. 14 Texas for the team lead.
TCU freshman Chelso Barrett carded a 74 and is tied for 13th individually at 221. The Keene, N.H., native birdied his opening hole of the day and shot par on 15 holes.
Giulio Castagnara added a 76 for the Horned Frogs. He birdied two of his opening five holes and was 1 under on the front nine. The Pordenone, Italy, native totaled three birdies on the day.
