May 31, 2017
FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU men’s golf coach Bill Montigel announced on Wednesday, the signing of Texas Wesleyan transfer David Ravetto.
Ravetto, who won the NAIA National Championship during the 2015-16 season as a freshman, finished tied for eighth at the national tournament this past season. In the third round of the championship, Rovetto shot five birdies and recorded the low round of the tournament at 67. His honors this past season include being named to the All-Tournament Team, a Ping NAIA First-Team All-American and an NAIA All-American.
“We are really excited to have David with us,” Montigel said. “He had an outstanding career at Texas Wesleyan and I look forward to seeing his improvement continue at TCU.”
Upon winning the national title as a freshman with a four-round score of 281, the program’s sixth lowest score all-time, Ravetto was named first-team NAIA All-American and the Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman. He set the Texas Wesleyan record with a season scoring average of 71.70.
Ravetto, a native of Parris, France, will be eligible immediately and have two years of play remaining.
Ravetto will add to an already experienced roster. Coming off its 28th consecutive NCAA Regional appearance, TCU returns four of its top five golfers. Senior Chelso Barrett is the only departure from the group that competed at regionals.
