TCU Announces Athletes Of The Week

 FORT WORTH, Texas  -- The women's track and field, men's golf  and baseball programs earned TCU Athletes of the Week honors for their outstanding performances this past week.

The baseball team had a spectacular weekend as the Frogs hosted and won their first ever NCAA Regional Championship. The Frogs had an undefeated weekend at Lupton Stadium as they claimed victories over Wright State and Oregon State. TCU posted five members to the All-Tournament Team, and freshman Jason Coats was selected as the Most Outstanding Player. The Frogs improved to 37-19 and will continue in action this upcoming weekend in Austin, Texas, at the NCAA Super Regional Championships.

The men's golf team had an impressive week as they finished up their season at the NCAA National Championships finishing ninth in the nation. This is the best finish at the NCAA National Championships since the 1997 season when TCU notched a seventh-place showing. Sophomore Tom Hoge recorded the top finish for the Frogs placing third overall with a 3-under-par score of 210 (70-70-70). TCU senior James Sacheck recorded a personal-best at a NCAA National Championship by finishing tied for 31st overall with a score of 5-over-par 218 (75-73-70).

The women's track and field team also had an outstanding weekend as they placed fourth overall at the NCAA Regional Championships in Norman, Okla. TCU senior Kishelle Paul claimed the regional championship in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.00. By winning the event, the three-time All-American became the first TCU female student-athlete to win a regional in back-to-back years. Also earning automatic NCAA bids were the women's 4x100, the women's 4x400, Neidra Covington (triple jump), Jessica Young (100 and 200 meters), and Kristal Juarez (400 meters). In the women's shot put, sophomore Stormy Harrison recorded a toss of 50 feet, 6 ¾ inches to place ninth overall.
