Sacheck and Hoge Earn PING Honorable Mention All-American Honors

James Sacheck (The Woodlands, Texas | Zionsville H.S.) and Tom Hoge (Fargo, N.D. | Fargo South H.S.) were awarded with PING honorable mention All-American accolades by the Golf Coaches Association of America, which announced the teams on Tuesday.

A PING Central Region Team award winner, Sacheck recorded All-Mountain West Conference accolades for the first time in his career after recording a team-best 73.14 stroke average over 14 tournaments. The TCU senior notched nine top-20 finishes, including a second-place showing at the National Invitational Tournament, while posting a program single-round record of 63 against the University of Arizona.

Sacheck captured four top-10 finishes this season, including an eighth-place finish at the Texas A&M Aggie Invitational and ninth-place showing at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational. The TCU team captain was awarded with Mountain West Conference Golfer of the Month accolades for the first time in his career. Sacheck recorded a 30th-place showing at both the NCAA National Championships and NCAA Central Regional Championships.

Hoge became the first TCU sophomore to earn All-American accolades since J.J. Henry in 1996 after the Fargo, N.D., standout notched a third-place showing at the NCAA National Championships. The TCU talent recorded three straight top-five finishes to close out the 2009 spring campaign, including a third-place showing at the Mountain West Conference Championships and fifth-place finish at the NCAA Central Regional Championships.

In his second season, Hoge recorded a 73.86 stroke average while appearing in 13 tournaments where he recorded eight top-20 finishes. Hoge became the second fastest golfer in program history to win an individual tournament title when he claimed the Columbia Invitational in his seventh collegiate event. The TCU sophomore recoded a career-best score of 209 (67-70-72) at the Mountain West Conference Championships.



Sacheck and Hoge became the first set of teammates to capture All-American honors in the same season since Adam Rubinson and David Schultz following the 2003 season.
