Fisher to Play in U.S. Amateur

FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU senior Triston Fisher will play in the U.S. Amateur beginning Monday in Pebble Beach, Calif.

The Southlake, Texas native qualified for the event by finishing second at the Texas Star Golf Club in Euless. This past season for the Horned Frogs, Fisher recorded an average score of 73.82 while being named Academic All-Big 12 First Team for the second consecutive year. He had a career-low of 6-under 210 at the challenging Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate and finished tied for seventh.

All 312 competitors will play one round at Pebble Beach Golf Links and one round at Spyglass Hill Golf Course. Fisher will begin play at 3:27 p.m. CT on the 10th hole of Spyglass Hill. After two rounds of stroke play, the top 64 will move to match play on Wednesday. Television coverage will begin with match play on Wednesday, 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. CT on FS1.

Fisher has experience playing Pebble Beach as he and the TCU squad played the course to open the 2017-18 season. He finished tied for 35th at the Carmel Cup at 6-over 222. The Horned Frogs will be back at Pebble Beach to open the 2018-19 season at the Carmel Cup, Aug. 31 – Sept. 2.
