TCU Wraps Up Charlie Thomas Invitational

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Junior Emeilo Ferguson won the 60-meter dash as TCU’s track and field team wrapped up competition at the Charlie Thomas Invitational in College Station on Saturday. Ferguson took home the 60-meter crown with a time of 6.75.

The Kingston, Jamaica, native also went on to record a season-best time of 21.35 in the 200 meters to place fifth.

On the women’s side, sophomore Brittney Trought notched a season-best in the 60-meter hurdles with a second-place time of 8.44 in the finals. The Aledo, Texas, native led the field in the prelims at 8.51 before taking home silver in the final race. Trought’s time of 8.44 ranks No. 5 on TCU’s all-time list.

The men’s 4x400-meter relay team of junior Kevin McClanahan, freshman Jostyn Andrews, freshman Ryan Champlin and sophomore Derrick Mokaleng recorded the nation’s No. 12 time as they finished in third place at 3:07.63.

In the 400-meter dash, sophomore Kayla Heard won her heat and placed third overall behind a time of 54.21. Sophomore Derrick Mokaleng logged a time of 47.74 in just his second 400-meter race in Purple and White.

In the throws, freshman Isaiah Rogers placed fourth in the shot put after recording a mark of 56 feet 6 inches (17.22 meters).

The Frogs will return to the track next week when they head to Frisco, Texas for the Frisco Invitational.
